"And so, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against any one; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. And beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.........COLOSSIANS 3: 12-15

Backyard Birds

We spoil our birds....we spend a bit of extra money on some great bird seed. Add nuts and raisins, and sit back and watch nature unfold. Some of the birds actually wait for us to feed them. We have a Flicker that sits up on the top of the telephone pole in our side yard at about 6:00 pm every night. He squawks and calls for us to put out the feed. As soon as we do, he swoops down and grabs some of the yummy nuts.

We have few Downy Woodpeckers as well...they love the peanuts and nut suet we leave out.

Then there is the momma Robin who loves the raisins we add to the feed.....even though the mulberry tree is full of lovely berries...her baby has to wait for mom to come and bring food

The hummingbirds have started to show up.........they fight all the time, even though we have 3 feeders out !

Last year we had a Chickadee Family in one of our front yard bird houses. This little guy fell out of the house before he could fly and hopped into our garage. I was able to rescue him as his momma scolded me....it was a happy ending.

We had a  Towee in the Spring....He had a mate. They stayed in our yard for about a month and them moved on...

We also had some Catbirds...this was a new bird to the area for us....fun to watch
And then there are the yellow finches.....They are so pretty and I love their finch chatter.

It is all so much fun to watch...I still have to capture some photos of other great birds that venture into our yard. I will add them when the camera catches them off guard as they indulge in the Heyse backyard gourmet feast.
